Alter Ego a taste of things to come

Young Hackney performers show off their talent

Where: Hackney Empire and Arcola Theatre

Cost: FREE

Who: All ages

When: Fri, 03/02/2012

Tolu, a 16 year old dancer from Hackney, took to the Hackney Empire stage on 3 February and blew our
minds with his fabulous dance moves!  Not only that, he went on to win the Alter Ego Talent Contest.

This was the launch event of Discover Young Hackney and on Saturday 25 February, Hackney's most amazing talent will take to the stage for the Headstart House Weekender closing party at the Arcola Tent. See who's performing at this FREE event for 13-19 year olds.

Tolu told us he wants to do bigger things in the future and we are hoping to see his name in lights again this weekend.

Alter Ego

The Hackney Empire was full of young talent from the ages of 13-21 all fighting to be the winner of Alter Ego 2012. The talent varied from young singers, rappers and dancers to magicians.

Milly Croft really stood out from the crowd with her marvellous magic as she got the audience involved, wowing them with her talent and keeping them amazed as she went on. She didn't win but she will definitly go on to bigger things... even the next Derren Brown.

Rapper Akala also made a guest appearance on the night, praising the good things going on in Hackney. Watch the interview.

Overall the night was outstanding, seeing young talent from all over Hackney; it is an amazing way for
young people to show what they have got to the rest of Hackney. Let's see what next year will bring us!
