Who: All ages

Everything from costumes, soundtracks to cinematography - YH! picks their 6 favourite stylish films.

Drive (2011)
Already becoming a cult classic amongst cinema goers this year's Drive is steeped in 80's inspired gloss, a minimalistic electro soundtrack, ultra-violence and bags of style. Directed by Nicolas Winding Refn and starring Ryan Gosling as a movie stunt driver who occasionally moonlights as a getaway car driver. After a robbery goes wrong a price is put on his head. Now he must decide how he saves himself and the girl he loves. Drive is sharp, sexy and highly stylised. If you haven't seen it then what are you waiting for?!

Inception (2010)
Inspired by the film noir of early Hollywood Christopher Nolan's dark action thriller Inception optimises this era of filmmaking - well fitted, sharp precision suits and equally fitted, yet modest dresses draw heavily from the style of the 1940's and 50's Hollywood glamour. One of the stylistic technqiues of film noir, which is equally as impressive as the costume designs is that of the cinematography. The stark contrast of dark and light, both figuratively and literally add a rich visual texture and a warmth to the distant, aloof approach typical of this genre. Christopher Nolan is just brilliant, writing and directing a film like Inception is a massive task for any director. There are so many sub genres going on it could so easily have been one big muddle but the balance between sci-fi, thriller, fantasy and romance that Nolan has struck means that all these element blend together seamlessly creating a mesmerising and at times mind-boggling experience.

The House of the Devil (2009)
An intensely creepy, taught and atmospheric horror. Director Ti West pay homage to the great horror filck's of the 80's in a film that is so well crafted that you may that you may actually think it was made in that era, such is the attention to detail. The extent he's gone to to recreate the look and feel of the 1980's is admirable especially on such a low budget . College student Samantha Hughes, played by newcomer Jocelin Donahue takes a strange babysitting job that pay's really, really good money. Sounds too good to be true? Maybe it is. The House of the Devil is a beautifully shot film and a must see for any horror fan!

Casino (1995)
Easily one of Scorsese's best films. Starring Robert De Niro and the gorgeous Sharon Stone Casino is set over two decades followg the fate of three main characters and examining the mafia influence on casinos in the 1970's. This film dazzles with effortless glamour and wild visuals, soaking up the vivid colours of Las Vegas as love, lust and power get in the way of business.

Kill Bill: Vol. 1 (2003)
Iconic film, iconic characters. The Bride, played by the unwavering Uma Thurman awakes from a coma with one thing one her mind, revenge! Tarantino merges the whimsical violence of old school Asian action movies with sassy girl power, making for a very stylish combination!

Mulholland Drive (2001)
From the master of mystery David Lynch, comes the tale of a bright-eyed young actress, Betty Elms (Naomi Watts) who hopes to make it in Hollywood but who ends up in embroiled in a dark conspiracy involving a dangerous blue box, a director named Adam Kescher and the mysterious nightclub Silencio. Unlike other directors with Lynch there's no sense of 'style for styles sake' there is meaning and depth to every shot and every angle, a stylistic necessity. Definitely a must see if you like your psychological thrillers with a surreal twist.
